I kind of over-glamorized these outfits for many years, thinking they were crème-de-la-crème, but they were just eight or so outfits offered exclusively through the Montgomery Ward Christmas catalog.
There are some nice ones in here though, the Dragon/Bolero dress, the white lace dress, the pink fringe top outfit.
They came in boxed sets of four dresses each and they weren’t named like the dresses in the other series. From the ad below it looks like the sets here were $5.96 a box, which sounds like a deal! As you can see, the other outfits ran from $3.78 to $7.86 each.
According to Sandra in Cher Doll & Her Celebrity Friends there two white box sets of four that came out in 1976 and a five new outfits swapped in for two boxes sold in 1977. She also notes that these dresses are not explicitly listed as Bob Mackie designs.

The J Set
- White lace off-the-shoulder gown
- Pink multicolored halter pantsuit
- Yellow shiny pants, rainbow blouse (in the picture it looks more white or tan and red stripped)
- Dragon with bolero jacket
1977 Boxes

The A Set
- An orange peasant dress with net top
- An off-the-shoulder blue outfit
- A white peek-a-boo dress
- Yellow shiny pants, rainbow blouse and sash (same as J3)
The B Set
- White sleeves batwing gown with a green middle panel
- A blue pantsuit with red and white trim
- A white dress with yellow fringe
- The black gown with the front ribbon with net sleeves (Same as H4)
