People saw Olympia Dukakis make what was then known as  “Eggs in Purgatory” or “Eggs in a Hole” or “Eggs in a Trashcan” and everyone wanted to make them. Recipes and videos are all over the Internet. They are now known as “Moonstruck Eggs.”

Mrs. Fax’s Fun Finger Foods

Mrs. Flax’s Fun Finger Foods was a promo piece created for the movie Mermaids. Although I didn’t love this 1990 movie, I am charmed by this little book of six pages of finger foods depicted in the film, from frozen fruit kebobs to BLT bites.

By the way, a few fans have created pages celebrating the kinds of foods found in the movie. (Cher’s character only cooks “finger foods.”)

Witches of Eastwick

Food  plays an important part in this movie. As the women grow to be more powerful, the food gets bigger and more fancy.

The most famous scene is when the girls are eating cherries and they cause Veronica Cartwright to get sick.

Michele Pfeiffer’s character makes zucchini jam and as she becomes more powerful, her zucchini’s get bigger (sort of phallic, that). In one scene at a school concert, Cher holds Pfeiffer’s basked of zucchini.

There are two parties contrasted, the girls night party with beer, chips, popcorn, cheese whiz and crackers and the introductory lunch with Jack Nicholson outside under a canopy with a spread of eggs, meat and fruit and silver service. They also have fancy dinner with Nicholson inside

On the day the girls regain their independence again, they send Nicholson out for bagels and ice cream (the girls are all pregnant).

Good Times 

Sonny makes his pasta sauce in a scene from the movie Good Times. He can’t get their dog to test it out but he finds Cher and she does it while they argue about making a movie.

Chastity, The Movie and Tacos

Cher can be seen eating tacos on a visit to Mexico (really in Arizona) in this movie.

In real life, Cher has said she loves  Jack in the Box tacos and on one episode of The Mike Douglas Show she pretended to work there.
